Based on your age and degree of nearsightedness, there is a very good chance that you’re a candidate for Laser Vision Correction (LASIK or Epi-LASIK/PRK), but it is difficult to determine which procedure is MOST appropriate for you without knowing your exact prescription, corneal thickness and corneal shape. All-Laser Wavefront LASIK is the most common type of Laser Vision Correction procedure performed in the United States. LASIK is FDA-approved to treat up to -12.0 diopters of nearsightedness and 6.o diopters of astigmatism, as long as certain measurements are within normal range to be medically advisable. Wavefront Epi-LASIK may be the procedure of choice if your corneas are thin or asymmetrically-shaped. Based on your age, prescription and astigmatism, we would most likely NOT recommend SMILE, Raindrop, Kamra, Visian ICL or other Lens Implant-type procedures.
