RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

8/91 - 6/92: Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. Working with Robert Maloney, MD, in the Department of Corneal and Refractive Surgery. Together we analyzed topographic changes following excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy in 50 patients treated in Berlin by Theo Seiler, MD.

8/90 - 6/92: Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. Worked with Robert Goldberg, MD, in the Department of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Project involved modeling socket contraction in rabbits; ultimate goal is to pharmacologically modulate contraction.

Summer 1986: Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. Worked as a researcher under the direction of Robert Yee, MD, studying vertical opto-kinetic nystagmus in normal human subjects.

Dr. Craig Bindi is the associate of Dr. Kawesch who is a native of San Jose and has lived in the Bay Area for most of his life. He has been practicing Ophthalmology in Northern California since Dr Bindi specialized in Ophthalmology at UC Davis in Sacramento. Prior to focusing on Refractive Surgery he performed hundreds of major eye surgeries including surgery to treat cataracts glaucoma retinal detachment diabetic eye disease cosmetic eyelid deformities and eye trauma. In addition to being trained as a Compre hensive Ophthalmologist, he spent an additional year studying and researching Refractive Surgery and Corneal Physiology at the University of Arizona. He completed an internship in General Medicine & Surgery at the University of Arizona and affiliated hospitals. He also graduated from Bellarmine in San Jose and St Mary ’s in the East Bay.

Dr Bindi is a licensed physician and surgeon. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery. He has published articles in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals. Dr. Bindi is certified to use both VISX and Nidek excimer lasers which can correct wide ranges of refractive errors with the latest technologies.

Dr Bindi is married and has three children. In his spare time he enjoys taking adventures with his family and is a sports enthusiast. He also is a medical content writer for an ophthalmologic application service provider company located in Silicon Valley. Dr. Bindi recently had LASIK surgery himself and now sees better than 20/20 without glasses or contacts.
