California LASIK Eye Doctors

A lot of research goes into finding the right doctor for your LASIK eye surgery. It's not enough to simply pick the first doctor you encounter or see an advertisement for. After all, your vision is something you should protect at all costs.

When you have your first consultation with a surgeon, come prepared with a list of questions to ask. Doctors like the ones at Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley in Northern California will make the time to answer all of your LASIK questions and should be able to provide proof of their answers.

What to Ask California LASIK Eye Doctors
Be sure to investigate doctors in Northern California before submitting to LASIK surgery. Make sure your doctor has a valid California license, and check with the California Medical Board to make sure he/she has no complaints outstanding. Ask how long the doctor has been performing LASIK eye surgery and how many procedures total he/she has performed. Your surgeon should have years of experience and have done at least several thousand procedures. You should also question how much experience your doctor has with the specific type of equipment that will be used in your surgery.

Also ask questions about a surgeon's rate of success. Success is measured by Snellen Uncorrected Visual Acuity (UCVA) and is represented by familiar numbers such as 20/20 and 20/40. Good doctors should be able to provide approximately 90 percent of their patients with at least 20/40 eyesight.
