Dr. Craig Bindi is a refractive surgeon
specializing in advanced techniques of laser
vision correction. Dr. Bindi was born and
raised in San Jose and has been practicing
in Northern California since 1997. Since
joining the Laser Eye Center of Silicon
Valley in 2000, he has gained a reputation
as one of the leading refractive surgeons
in the Bay Area and has distinguished himself
from other Bay Area refractive surgeons
by the high level of one-to-one patient
care that has become his trademark.
"While
premier technology and extensive experience
are mandatory for great results, they cannot
replace a surgeon who consistently emphasizes
meticulous technique and a gentle bedside
manner." -Craig S. Bindi, M.D.
Dr. Bindi specialized in
Ophthalmology at the University of California
Davis School of Medicine. He spent an additional
year studying and researching refractive
surgery and corneal physiology during a
post-doctoral fellowship at the University
of Arizona. Prior to focusing on refractive
surgery, he performed surgery to treat cataracts,
glaucoma, retinal detachment and eye trauma.
Dr. Bindi has performed
laser vision correction on professional
football and baseball players, Olympic athletes
as well as fellow eye doctors and family
members. Dr. Bindi is a board-certified
ophthalmologist, a fellow of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of
the American Society of Cataract and Refractive
Surgery. He has served as an Investigator
for collaborative multi-center university
clinical research projects and has written
articles that have been published in peer-reviewed
journals such as Cornea
and Ophthalmology.
Staying committed to leading edge technology,
he was among the first group of refractive
surgeons in the country to implant the Verisyse
and Visian phakic intraocular lenses for
extreme nearsightedness.
"It
has been said that the best surgeon not
only knows how to operate well, but also
knows when not to operate at all. If someone
is a not a good candidate for surgery, the
best plan is to wait for a safer option
to become available."
